Why I love K-Beauty skincare so much!

Korean skincare products have been all the rage in recent years, and I am here for it! Let me tell you why… this may sound strange considering almost everything that I do (and sell) is either a medical grade service or a medical grade product. La Belle Peau Laser, is all things clinical, yet we are also all things beauty. Our company name itself is French for ‘Beautiful Skin’ after all, and we are here to help you attain it.

What I personally love about Korean skincare, is the philosophy itself; ampoules, serums, overnight creams can work together to suit different skin types. It is not a ‘one size fits all’, these products allow you to easily customise a skincare routine for yourself, without the hefty price tag.

The first time I tried K beauty was in 2017, a little late on the train, but present none the less. My first product was an Etude lip tint and some tony moly masks. Needless to say, I have repurchased on a number of occasions. As a matter of fact, Tony Moly masks tend to sit in my bedside table drawer, a little treat I indulge in, whilst I express my son’s milk and binge watch episodes of the crown.

My dressing table now consists of a tray dedicated to all my K beauty products, and I must admit, these are almost the only ones I use consistently. A lot of you are probably already aware, that I am a firm believer in sticking to and maintaining a simple skincare routine, however, being sure to implement small changes once every 3-4 months, to nourish your skin and to keep it healthy – almost like keeping your skin on it’s toes.

I really love that Korean beauty product creators still use natural ingredients that have been used for generations, such as rice water and camelia (both hydrating and rich in antioxidants). Generic skincare brands that I have tried in the past, not to mention any names, but the type of brand you would find as a concession in a large department store, that typically consists of high end retail – the type of brands that I have wasted plenty of money on in the bid for perfect, youthful and even looking skin. I believe are not designed for South east Asian skins like mine. I, and a lot of my friends all on a similar wavelength of the Fitzpatrick scale, feel like we have never been catered for by skincare giants.

With K-beauty however, there is an innumerable number of products that are designed for pigmentation problems, more specifically hyperpigmentation (excessive darkening of the skin). A lot of my clients, predominantly south east Asian, are always in want of, incorporating a product into their skincare regime, that is designed to help areas, where there is excessive pigmentation. This is where Korean beauty comes in, and I really do believe I have found a product for every skin concern.

Time to get glowing!

Arouje xx
